There are five elements in Vastu Shastra
1.Earth 2.
Water 3. Air 4. Fire 5.Space
The
entire Universe, whether it is stars, planets, moons, or any form of life,
including our body is made up of five essential elements, In fact, the five
elements of the nature have to be coordinated with the five elements of the
human body as well. Vastu is nothing but the science of balancing of these five
elements of vastu in proportion, to keep the residents of the house, in perfect
harmony for right decisions, peace and happiness.
In
buildings each direction is dominated by one element - a balanced state being
the cause of positive, and an imbalanced state the cause of negative effects.
It
is the balance or imbalance among these elements that makes one's Space a
virtual heaven or hell.
Secrets of Five Element Forces
These
five elements of vastu continuously interact with each other in natural
progression from one to another. This
interaction works in two-cycles, one of creation and other of destruction.
Under constructive cycle
Fire
results in ash or earth, earth hardens to metal, metal melts and creates water,
water feeds wood and wood helps fire to burn. Here each element helps or
enhances the progress of the other. This
cycle created harmony between elements.
Under destructive cycle
Wood
draws its essence from earth, earth destroys water, water extinguishes fire,
fire melts metal and metal cuts wood.
This creates disharmony between elements.
Now,
let us see how we can apply them to our house.
If
objects are placed such that they complement each other as in the constructive
cycle, they enhance the property of each other e.g If water objects like a
water fountain or picture of water etc. is placed in wood section of the house
then it enhances the property of wood.
In case destructive cycle elements come together, they cut down the
progress of each other, e.g. If metal objects are placed in the wood section
like wind chimes or metal furniture, it cuts wood. Hence there will be disharmony thus creating
disturbances and troubles in the house.
